State of Kansas Selects Bold Planning for State-Wide COOP Project
The State of Kansas has selected Bold Planning Solutions and their Continuity of Operations Planning system, EMplans.com as the foundation for their state-wide continuity planning initiative. The goal of the multi-year project is to assist planners in meeting the state's COOP initiative which requires all Kansas state agencies to create and maintain viable Continuity of Operation Plans (COOP).
Using the EMplans.com system as a base, Bold Planning Solutions created a customized planning system designed to match the specific COOP requirements for the State of Kansas. This customized Kansas planning system has been deployed online at www.COOPKansas.com and is now available to all Kansas state agencies for continuity plan development and ongoing maintenance.
As a key part of the project, Bold Planning Solutions is also hosting dozens of on-site COOP training seminars for state planners. The purpose of these seminars is to provide planners with an introduction to COOP principles, assist with beginning the process of developing their plans, and outline a regimen for maintaining and reviewing their plans going forward. To date, over 50 state agencies have participated in these trainings to develop their COOPs; including the Department of Transportation, National Guard, and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The major benefits of using the web-based COOP planning system are:
COOP plans developed by Kansas state agencies are developed in a standardized and structured layout.
COOP data is live and online at all times; accessible by emergency officials and key personnel as needed during times of COOP activation and relocation.
COOP data can be easily updated online at anytime to ensure continual plan accuracy and development.
Senior level planners can grade plans online in real time and provide constructive feedback to COOP planners for continual plan enhancement.
The State of Kansas is the latest of many projects to use the EMplans.com approach to standardizing and achieving the COOP planning process.
